A Discussion on The 4 Quarters & The 12th Houses of the Zodiac: Basic Topical Significations, The Joys, The 24 Hours of a Day & Lords of Days and Hours – [Part III]

Considerations

In Part II it was introduced the “head” of the Zodiac wheel followed by the basic universal significations of the houses, meanings and monograms. There are so many information that we could go on and on, but this is not a book but a  discussion on my part, while hoping the reader will enjoy and rejoice of such observations I am pulling out.

The 2 distinctive planetary Sects were already discussed here in Part I and Part II. But now I wish to address it through the Joys of the planets. Not only planets prefer signs [in the dual rulership scheme], which are their “Planetary Joys or Preferences” [for example, Venus rejoices in or feels more at home while in Taurus than Libra, once Taurus is feminine and nocturnal sign while Libra is diurnal and masculine, nevertheless Venus is still domicile in Libra], but the planets also have favorite places in the wheel, which we could term it as “Joys” of the Planets, where the bliss of the house’s environment makes them feel rejoiced and delighted

Day or Night? The “Joys” of the Planets & Planetary Sects

Like humans and animals, we all seem to be happier or joyful at some places than others, the environment is everything, it also secures our very survival; a human lost in the heart of a wild jungle have less chances of living then someone lost in town, or that lions can’t live in society as our lil’cats do etc.

Now, when you open your eyes you will see and observe things and people, the “same” with the planets, when they are mobilized in your chart, their “eyes” are wide open where they can’t “hardly wait” to look at what’s going on in the outside conditions [Solar Returns].The spin of Earth around its own axis makes us feel like the Sun is daily surrounding and watching over us, creating the diurnal circle where Planet Earth testifies day and night. The phenomenon is quite dramatic to us once the absence of light changes circumstances while directly impacting our environment triggering the nocturnal animals/nature. The ancients treated the Sects and planets as below:

SECT

LORD

PLANETS

Diurnal Sect

Sun

Jupiter-Saturn

Nocturnal Sect

Moon

Venus-Mars

Mercury

The Sun is the universal ruler of Day, and the Moon the universal Queen of the night. Instinctively but objectively, it is naturally brought into existence the astrological technique of defining planets if pertaining from diurnal [Sun] or nocturnal [Moon] Sects – the solar and lunar halves.

If you rest a line between the Zodiac signs in Aversion Cancer-Leo to the infinite, where respectively the Moon and Sun are rulers of [or as we have learned, Abù Ma’shar would say it “single mannered” signs according to Benjamin Dykes], you will note that such drastic imaginary division would make the dual rulership table to be exactly opposite to each. By “putting” the Sun with Jupiter-Saturn above the horizon circle, the social planets are more roused and integrated, after all the Sun wants them above, where things are not much personal anymore but shared, collective and public. Not only that, Saturn maleficent nature is burned out and Jupiter’s exaggeration is consumed. Venus and Mars opposite to the diurnal Sect make things easier for them in matters of personal affairs to one’s own personal saga.

The Joy of the Planets

The Sun is the eye that sees it all, and its birth marks the Ascendant point, and as consequence the less the Ascendant looks or is looked at by the 2 malefics Saturn-Mars, the better for both parts in the “joy scheme” of the planets – you don’t want things of malefic nature looking at you do you? – Then shall Saturn and Mars be in aversion to the Asc, and let the 2 benefic Venus and Jupiter to be looking good at it, the first as a trine and the other as sextile, and finally the Sun looks to the Asc as a sextile whilst the Moon as trine. Let Saturn rejoices in the 12th place of the chart where it also have similar attributes of sorrow, corruption, confinement etc. but not only that, Saturn soften the edges of the 12th place by limiting the irrational fantasy, the lies etc. thus it has a function in such environment, to encourage honesty and discipline, which such place lacks, thus the planet feels functional, operational and rewarded somehow. Mars on the other hand, is in the hand of the “army of the nation” below the horizon circle, it is more restricted and supposedly since is the scheme he is not looking at the Ascendant, he is then rather reserved and contained, where its anger and violence is directed to the practices of the body and mind [in order to stay cautious], trainings, theory and reservation such as in the military [?].

It is known that Mercury rules the native’s bodily expression, one’s movements and speech. Intriguing enough, mutable Mercury rejoices in the peripheral of the wheel [first house], where day and night intersects and the natality/nascence of the Zodiac signs and planets. In the head [1st house and Aries] we have our brains, making it possible not only to see and imagine things but for us to think – all nerves ultimately connect to the brain along with the spinal cord, androgynous and even genderless Mercury is said to rule such peripheral nervous system where it transmits and processes sensory information – the planet is known for “how one thinks”, style as well as writing, how the native processes information and transmits them verbally, intensity of voice, tone, etc. Abú Ma’shar reminds us [page 378 “The Great Introduction” translated by Benjamin N. Dykes, PhD (2020)] that when Mercury is in a Zodiac sign of “mute” Cancer, Scorpio or Pisces and is somewhat strongly debilitated with malefics, shall the native be born or suffer from deaf, or concerning hearing and the tongue.

The houses where the Sun and Moon rejoice, respectively they named as the “house of God” and the “house of the Goddess”, the house where light gives life [9th] and the first “humane” house of the mind realm [3rd]; the houses where the 2 most benefic rejoice Venus and Jupiter, respectively they named them as the houses of “Good Fortune” and “Good Daemon/Spirit” – the houses of hope, longing, positive expectation and forecast, huge capital from corporations/organizations etc. ; and finally and respectively they identified the malefic houses of Mars and Saturn, the house of “Bad Fortune” and the house of “Bad Daemon/Spirit” – the houses of sickness [6th] and madness [12th]. Now, the houses where no planet rejoices are the 2nd house of the Gate of Hades followed by the 8th house of Hades, the confinements of the underworld; neither the axis where the House of Helm [Ascendant] square the 4th Lower Mc and 10th Midheaven, no planet is allowed to be rejoiced in such scheme, even as powerful as the stakes of the Lower and Midheaven can be neither the Place of the Descendant [7th house – opposition to the Asc]. The 7 traditional planets were “put” [or better: identified] in such rejoicing scheme in such order that we can utilize the model to filter information as well as to judge a radix more rapidly, even when totally alien to modern researches. For example, from such intelligent arrangement, it is possible that the 11th house then to be a great indicator of wealth and not exactly the 2nd house of income, but once Jupiter rejoices in the 11th house and this is the place of groups and huge corporations, you could imagine the result from greatest benefic Jupiter and its expansion rejoicing in [nevertheless, the 2nd house is how and where the native recieves such “money”]. Or those centers of rehabilitation which are centers of correction due to this responsible Saturn delighting in the 12th place and so forth.
