The Astrology of the Golden Age of Porn
From the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in cardinal Libra at the end of the 60’s, the world saw many eccentric events concerning humans and their ideas. From the Stonewall uprising, Charles Manson eccentric murderous group to the first human setting foot on the Moon, the Jupiter-Uranus in Libra conjunction made the world turn upside down for a period. Now, it was also, the rise of the golden age of the porn industry, where many people came out notorious and popular porn stars. It was some sort of human’s freedom orientation which made socially accepted to watch porn on theatres as if they were common screenings.
The term “Golden Age of Porn” or “porno chic” refers to a period in the history of pornography from the late 1960s through the mid-1980s (specifically between 1969–1984). During this time, the production and distribution of pornographic films increased significantly, and the industry experienced a level of mainstream success and cultural acceptance that it had never seen before.
Uranus shocks, changes the story and is the experimenter – However, the industry eventually faced backlash and criticism due to concerns about the exploitation of performers, the spread of sexually transmitted infections, and the potential harm that pornography could cause to individuals and society as a whole. As a result, the industry underwent significant changes in the following decades as soon as transformative Pluto entered sexual Scorpio in the middles 80’s.
Jupiter-Uranus in Libra explores human ability at mind level, but also the things we consider beautiful and pleasant and sensual, Libra is the sign ruled by Venus, the general representation of a vagina. The industry is mainly focus on couples preforming acts that we call sexual, yet it becomes a porn (obscene?) when it is “recorded” for other’s people sexual satisfaction.
Although the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction signified many important things where cardinality was seen, the porn industry was strongly affected because another stronger combination of factors contributed to its wild jump, the Saturn-Neptune opposition in the sensual Taurus and sexual Scorpio axis. This era is also characterized by the shift in the industry’s focus from the earlier, more explicit and hardcore pornography to a more sophisticated and story-driven approach. The films during this time were often shot on 35mm film and featured more elaborate sets and costumes, as well as higher production values and better acting.
Another correspondence from the Saturn-Neptune in the Taurus-Scorpio axis would probably be that the fact of the popularity of the Golden Age of Porn included the relaxation of censorship laws (Saturn), the increased availability of pornography through the advent of the VHS format (Neptune), and the overall changing social attitudes towards sex.
