Astrology is Ruled by Saturn [& Uranus]
Astrology is Ruled by Saturn [& Uranus]
While such topic may be quite dramatic to discuss among astrologers, I find it exciting! I believe Astrology is ruled by Saturn [& Uranus] and not Neptune, Moon, 3rd house, Mercury etc. Let me explain myself before you may cancel me by your mind.
Indeed all planets have something related to astrology, and many astrologers are convicted of their “choice” of planet as a primordial significator, and I guess that is ok, this is not something that will change our lives, but perhaps it does to the approach and the professional’s perspective and the way the person works and treats techniques [?]. Surely not something easily reached to a final conclusion in 5 minutes. It shall be necessary ones’ philosophy and resources [history and good authors] and that may demand time and will to end up with such a convicted opinion, but because we are discussing, rather is true or not, it is a topic that you decide, quite a modern approach [means of arriving to a personal end] to astrology. Farthest the lead-in of my written rejoiced feelings towards the subject, I shall begin by Neptune’s logical operation: to confuse, to make believe, to make look good and necessary.
Although I would love to Astrology to be ruled by Neptune, the idea behind seems to be more idealizing than based on studies. Neptune does not fit the word astrology at almost any level, but to romanticize [glamorize] and confuse the subject, I suppose. Many astrologers believe astrology is also a religion, while I respect the opinion, I don’t agree with it. Astrology can indeed be ritualistic, because it is based primarily and solely on the Solar System and the “neutral” corruption it follows and its predictability. But we can paint [Neptune] it, for sure. It would be easy to think Neptune rules astrology, once the planet operates those things we believe without actually seeing them or how it works, sometimes considered a rather charlatan work.
While the Sun and the Moon are the people and those in charge of securing order in the chaos of the human & animal life, Mercury is the actual planet that rules humanity, the human being itself. Astrologer such as Abû-Mashar believed someone’s humanity was operated by Mercury. From Mercury we begin to see the differences between the rational and logical human from the animal kingdom. Mercury is our rational, our mentality, what gives form and distinctions, from here we define. From Mercury we can begin to think about [“think therefore I am”]. Mercury then rules the things more immediate and what is right in front of due to the environment. Supposedly that if it wasn’t for Mercury, it would be impossible to interpret Astrology [Saturn], and not the other way around. The thing is that Astrology [time] & Solar System can exist fine without humans [Mercury] and their interpretations, let’s put it.
Many good astrologers have planets in the 3rd, 7th and 11th houses, they are the air ones. In the 3rd especially with the Moon, the astrologer is indeed great at interpreting symbols, in dreams or through the astrological chart. The 7th house the astrologer is good at putting oneself in the other’s shoes easily.
Needleless to say, Saturn is still the lord of death in astrology, as it is the last visible planet in astrology by naked eye, suggesting a personal (individual) approach to death and ones’ approach to time itself and one’s end on Earth. You can’t predict [or seeing the past’s qualities for the matter] from nothing, but from time, from a starting point even if that may live for less than a second, it existed somewhere in space and time, and having the right coordinate, such event can be read in an astrological radix. In the myth, titan Cronus ascended as the absolute ruler of the entire cosmos, the significator & ruler of time and old age. Cosmos in Greek is Kosmos; time is spelled Khronos while Saturn is Kronos, a mixture of universe and a temporal length. While the quality of time could be Saturn in Capricorn, the math and geometry behind it is surely a more Saturn in Aquarius configuration. Also, Saturn is the planet of social order and organization, like the Solar System and its predictable & organized movement of planets.
Uranus in the other hand, operates what is new & recycled. The modern one, that sometimes synthesizes too much due to its “mechanical” and unpredictable operation. In myth, we are talking at “God of the skies” level. Through computation/computers [new tech] we are now able to construct births while casting charts in seconds, throw directions calculations and easily observe transits in a mundane in a quick click. It super passed all that slowed down process that once was and thus its perspective in a shorter window of time. The thing here, is that Uranus rules the future, much like the sign of Aquarius and its attributes. Yes, at some level and perhaps even higher that any other planet than Saturn, Uranus should be look out for the second significator of such vintage yet eccentric subject of attention.
I’ll investigate deep the Saturn-Uranus synodic cycle which is marked each 45 years when there is an aligning of the two forces, perhaps to see the oscillations between generations in astrologers and history but marked by Aries point. I am indeed interested and excited about reading time cycles and would like a better/deeper/expanded answer myself rather than just what I think.
