Saturn Retrograde

Saturn Retrograde – Saturn will be Retrograde [Rx] for 137 days from the day it stations Rx. From late July to middle November 2024, expect Saturn to “turn back” to about seven previous degrees [see the table below]. 

Note: Although the Square between the Sun-Saturn, the last can never be Retrograde, the Persian astrologers of antiquity would say that Saturn soon after its Square to the Sun, it goes into its “After easternization” phase which is the 6th condition, but as the Sun moves forwards in degrees in the Zodiac as days passes by, Saturn begins stationing Retrograde in the 8th condition between it and the Sun until the Opposition perfects.

Feeling work is behind schedule, things at work are getting slower and slower, papers and e-mails are piling up? Feeling there are so much to do and not enough time to complete the task? Feeling things are getting on the way, or that block is getting bigger than smaller? You may not be alone in this part of the game – The projects are clashing with each, too many now will seem rather irrational, unnecessary or unwise. Calm down and get out from the shortcuts, now it’s time to really deal with internal struggles regarding one’s expectations for the future – it is time to put on the shoes of self-discipline. Life is putting the upfront breaks; No, actually, all the breaks at once. Astrological Saturn is using its own breaks to avoid further possible accidents, so you must think twice or thrice before moving on, sound and safe. It is about not signing that important document until fully noted of its content, one that could easily put the native at risk in the future, thus the sensitive times ahead regarding one’s moral, status and overall image that the world sees. It is about taking time, to examine, to inspect again and again, to do the proper survey, to scan it and make worthy decisions from there, and not from spontaneity, adventurous spirt or the unbothered. Decisions taking place now, will have powerful consequences in the future, whatever those are (?). 

Saturn needs you to think wisely, not from the heart or from the guts, but from reason, common sense and objectivity. It simple won’t rely on the unplanned, the unpremeditated – it needs to premediate before moving forward, and such period will “scream” that to humanity. If you are in a rush, Saturn, the universal taskmaster will teach you the opposite ways, that rush is actually an enemy of perfection, and now such knowing will overrule for a few months ahead. Saturn requires concentration and focus point, but one that can be moved about – if you are just “going with the flow”, going too fast without proper rational thinking, Saturn then will requisite you to stop there and make a U turn. This is the time where Saturn many times will say “No, sorry”, without actually being “sorry” for it. It is that time to re-organize life, important files and projects, solve what needs to be solved and perhaps don’t waste time with outer distractions and temptations.

I can’t stress enough how this transit is important, especially if this one was meant to be in your chart. You see, a few hours before Saturn in Capricorn was stationing retrograde in July 1936 at 22° degrees of Pisces, the first paper recognizing stress as a biological condition is published – the author Hans Selye by the time was only 29 years old, thus we can imagine this was the closing chapter of his own Saturn return in Pisces, which astrological charts shows in terms with Jupiter (publication). Stress is quite a Saturn organism response along with Mars in between – the endocrinologist author was spot on while catching Saturn’s transit in medical form, and although the studies are merely a start, preventions are still a huge part of the investigative field, quite Saturn indeed. Saturn in Pisces is kind of well positioned because it resembles to him the 12th place on terrestrial plane, it is well used while softening its hard edges, it feels properly in function as avoidance of disease’s expansion – it thinks out of reason when inside the medical field, giving certain hope to humanity (?). 

Saturn, along with Mars, Uranus & Pluto, rule over the calamities and destruction of things and people in the world. Now, at the exact day domicile Saturn went station retrograde in Capricorn back on April 21st, 1930, a major fire killed 322 inmates and sent to hospital 230 in one of the deadliest fires in USA’s penitentiary history.  Guess what planet and what sign Saturn was Square to? Uranus in the first fire sign of the Zodiac, Aries! They were partile by only an orb something apart, while also Opposite Pluto in such sinister chart – a riot was followed in the event. When Saturn aligns somehow with many malefic in such day of stationary to retrograde motion, one could expect tragedies to occur. Many had to wait (which must have felt like hours) and accept their terrible destiny and way to die while in a prison cell. Saturn also rules prisons, confined spaces which limits the human body to further their physical movement and vanish with their presence in the world – “There was nothing to do but scream for God to open the doors. And when the doors didn’t open, all that was left was to stand still and let the fire burn the meat off and hope it wouldn’t be too long about it.” [Hunter, Bob p.133]. Saturn can sometimes corner us, where we feel there is no objective way out of some situations except to accept one’s fate until it is over with, and with Uranus in such hard aspect as a Square, it can quickly burn out hopes and suddenly block freedom, as it was the case of the inmates. Now, about 30 years before, exactly on the day of the Saturn stationary retrograde on May 8th, 1902, stratovolcano Mount Pelée in Martinique erupts, killing over 30,000 while destroying the town of Saint-Pierre in just a few minutes, in what was considered the worst volcanic calamity of the 20th century, leaving behind only three known survivors. In the chart, Saturn is bounded with fiery Mars, and the last was detriment in Taurus while Conjunct South Node, and the day before there was a Solar Eclipse in that Taurus. When Saturn takes the U turn in the skies, the physical world on Earth erupts somehow, from inside out. If we keep up investigating retrograde stations of Saturn in domicile for example, misadventures can potentially mark the books; another example would be when Saturn was domicile in airy Aquarius (the ruler of planes and things that takes human to the skies), in just a few hours Saturn was stationing Retrograde on May 1962, Continental Airlines Flight 11 crashed in vicinity of Centerville, Iowa, United States, after the in-flight detonation of a bomb near the rear lavatory, killing all 45 passengers and crew aboard  – when Saturn in aircraft Aquarius stationed Retrograde, it was Conjunction South Node, while exact Square Neptune in Scorpio – Mars then was domicile in the first and first fire sign Aries, while bounded with Saturn! Mars was also, partile Trine Pluto. The chart has Sagittarius rising as the Boeing left O’Hare at 8:35 p.m., with Jupiter in 3rd house partile opposite that Pluto. In less than one hour after its departure, the Boeing 707-124 is put to deadly risk because of a single man who was counting on his investments in insurances to bring money to his wife and daughter once he was declared dead, he even bought insurances at the airport before the perpetrator exploded the lavatory of the airplane, literally while in transit in the skies. Can you guess what Zodiac sign the Moon transited that day? – Capricorn, ruled by Saturn. 

For some people, real problems return, and they must face them, their irrational fear, thoughts and nonsense ideas. People are ready to re-analyse their own struggles and how to cope with them in better functions – “If what I did didn’t work, what could this time around?”. A great time to solve troubles and complications once and for all, not a time to dance around, but to be realistic about it. To finally come to terms with those illusional thoughts or irrational feelings that stay hidden in the mind but is somehow an everyday reminder, even from very far in consciousness. To hunt down silly worries and concerns and focus on what truly matters as concrete and objective. Saturn will ask humanity “What is priority and what can be left behind if necessary?” – what is your answer so far? It is about directing life carefully and vigilant of consequences, to re-introduce that sense of inner responsibility and loyalty to oneself. To manage oneself in the world with secondary reviews, to brush aside “mental constructions” such as colors and see things for how they truly are. Colors are merely a perceptual experience by the creature’s brain, they don’t simple exist independently in the physical world as perceived by our eyes, and Saturn knows that, and you shall learn that too.
