Francisco Franco was a Spanish military general and politician who ruled Spain as a ruthless dictator. From 1939 until his death in 1975, the individual was responsible for violating human rights and suppressing political freedoms. He was born in El Ferrol, Spain, in 1892 and rose to prominence during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), which he won with the support of fascist Italy and Nazi Germany.
Although this is not a Stellium in the 7th sign of this radix, it does have greater benefic Jupiter in there along with control freak Mars, which is Ascendant’s bounds. These kind of configuration in dictator’s chart seem to help these creatures to charm their way to the culmination of power and control.

End of the War & the Beginning of Dictatorship
Now, what happens when such Venus also conjunct the IC (major end of things) by direction converse? Venus is opposite the things war-oriented Mars represents. It was the end of the Spanish Civil War. A victory for Francisco. Notice he was born under the hour of Venus – it was his time.
On April 1st ;1939 Franco’s Nationalist forces then win the Spanish Civil War. Franco’s victory marked the beginning of a new era in Spain, as he established a dictatorship that lasted for 36 years.

Military Agreement – The Pact of Madrid
When uprising Uranus perfected the direction to the IC in 1936, Francisco joins the rebellion against the Republic Spain of the time. Now, what happened when such Uranus perfected direct the direction to the Ascendant of his chart?
On October 1st ;1953 Spain signs a military agreement “The Pact of Madrid” with the United States, leading to increased economic and diplomatic ties with the West, including increased trade and investment. The Pact was significant because it helped to legitimize Franco’s regime in the eyes of the international community, particularly the United States.
Again, controversial Uranus in the chart conjunct pact-oriented & accord Venus, and, again, Uranus is ruler of the 6th house where in the mundane corresponds to the nation’s army. The agreement allowed the U.S. to establish military bases in Spain and provide military aid to the Franco regime in exchange for Spain’s cooperation in the containment of communism and Soviet influence in Europe.
Also, it was Francisco Saturn return. Natal Saturn is exalted in the sign of Pact – Libra, then ruler of Saturn would be Venus, which again, is in the Persian degrees of “Elevation & Power”. Now, transiting Venus was conjunct transiting Mars!
The SR1952 had Venus-Uranus opposition with Taurus on the DSC – the pact was also controversial, as it strengthened Franco’s hold on power and allowed for continued human rights abuses and repression of political dissent within Spain.

Steps Down but Still in Power
Saturn is the planet that steps down, it knows that the human body has time & limits – it knows precaution. If you read my website, you probably had read about Sun-Saturn directions corresponding to times of retirement, stepping down from spotlight, diminish of career etc.
On July 22nd; 1969 – Franco designates Prince Juan Carlos as his successor but retains power as head of state. This was a significant moment in Franco’s rule, as it represented an acknowledgment of his own mortality and the need to plan for the future of his regime. Saturn rules the “future” and the mortality or, expiration of the flesh.
Remember that Sun (bounded with Venus) sextile exalted Saturn in the radix. Natal Sun is in the Persian Degrees of “Elevation & Power”. Although stepping down (Saturn), Franco still upholds power as someone important (Sun) until his death about 6 years later.
Now, the transiting Saturn-Neptune again was involved in the configuration, but they were opposite this time.
In the SR1968 the returning Sun sits right in the 10th house of career retirement. Saturn was ruler of the Ascendant of this chart. Now, Jupiter, ruler of this 10th house conjunct the 8th house, as himself was transferring his power & highchair to another “power”, or, to “other’s people/person control and domain”.

The Creature Dies & the Beginning of a Democratic Spain
In the chart of Franco, it appears to me that Mars was the Hyleg of the radix. It is the planet closest to the horizon circle, and it is the term of the Ascendant. Since the chart is nocturnal, the Sun could easily be the Anaereta, and it also, square Mars in the radix. At the period his death, there was also a locomotive of aspectual directions of squares from the Sun-Mercury-Moon to the MC direct. However, there is just 1 (one) Hyleg in any chart, and from that vital planet, we could try to claim one’s length of life:
Although he was suffering from Parkinson’s disease, which had contributed to his declining health, on November 20th, 1975 Franco dies from natural causes, and Juan Carlos becomes king of a freshly new democratic Spain.
