V. Of Brothers and Sisters

Because it is the mother/women whom gives Birth to the Native, The Egyptian writer Ptolemy affirms that one shall look for the planets which has signification of Mother’s role, the Moon [night] and Venus [night], and from there the astrologer can anticipate or simple confirm the native’s siblings – which is a very different topic from the native having children of her/his own.

However, Ptolemy also pointed to the fact that adopted brethens or from other womb (other mother), such significations would change (be others) in the chart as well.

The “Maternal Point” then, is said to be signified by the Mc in anyone’s radix. So, if you want to know about possible mother’s future pregnancy how many brethens one would have after birth then look foward the Mc and 11th house and so forth.

“…As for that of brethren, if here too One examines only the general subject and does not carry beyond the bounds of possibility his inquiry as to the exact number and other particulars, it is more naturally to be taken, when it is a question of blood-brethren alone, from the culminating [Mc] Sign, the place of the mother, that is, [to] that which contains by day Venus and by night the Moon; for in this [Zodiac] Sign and that which succeeds it is the place of the children of the mother, which should be the same as the place of the brethren of the offspring.”
